Hi I’m Andrew, the Sandboxx Travel manager and former USMC Marine. A regular question we get is “How do I book my hotel for USMC Graduation?“. Whether your new Marine graduates at Parris Island or San Diego, Sandboxx Travel and I are here to help you focus less about the logistics of graduation and more on your new Marine. Here’s a brief overview on what I can do for you and some of my top hotel picks to ensure your graduation stay is as easy and comfortable as possible.
I focus on three things when recommending hotels for USMC graduation San Diego and Parris Island:
- Clean and Safe
- Close to base
- Best value
I have worked with military families over the past 10 years, booking thousands of room nights for Marine Corps graduations. I only recommend hotels I would stay at myself. In fact, I have visited every hotel within 15 minutes of MCRD San Diego and Parris Island. You can be assured if you have any problems, I will make them go away.
Your Marine needs your support so let me remove the worry of managing your hotel reservations.
Here’s how it works:
Sandboxx has created relationships with hotels close to San Diego and Parris Island bases and have access to their lowest available rates. We also list ALL RATES just in case you have AAA or other memberships providing you discounts. I know travel is expensive and every dollar saved is a dollar you can use to make the most of your graduation stay. As I mentioned, we have no extra fees and won’t ever charge you for our customer support. We are here to make your life easier and ensure the best trip ever.
What about shuttles? If you are going to San Diego, you can take a shuttle if the hotel has one or take a 5 minute taxi to your hotel. The San Diego airport is located right next to the base, and I mean right next to. In fact, if you are sitting on the right hand side of the plane, you may even see your recruit doing some Marine Corp push-ups. We do offer select hotels that have shuttles to the base for all graduation activities.
If you are flying into Parris Island (Savannah or Charleston), you will need to rent a car. The local hotels don’t offer shuttle rides to/from the airport or base. There are a few shuttle services, but the cost is much more than renting a car. I can also book your car too, I am here to make this as easy as possible.
Ok, now to the fun stuff where I save you some money. First, if you do book from another source, read the fine print and don’t pay online hotel sites or travel agents a service fee to book your hotel. Sandboxx reserves all hotels to San Diego and Parris Island for free. Plus, cancellation within 48 hours and date modifications are also FREE.

Southern California offers great weather (most of the time) as well as world-class attractions. My choice of hotels for San Diego are tried and tested by me and hundreds of other Sandboxx families.
Four Points By Sheraton San Diego
My first pick for MCRD San Diego is the Four Points by Sheraton – Seaworld, located minutes from the base and airport. I have stayed at this hotel and know the management personally. The hotel has been newly renovated and is as modern as it is classy. The property has a full service restaurant and bar – and yes, I know the chef and his staff. Don’t tell my boss, but breakfast is on me every morning and three of your roomies. And this is not just any simple continental breakfast, but a full blown sit-down cloth napkin culinary extravaganza. And everyone’s first drink at the hotel bar is on me!
Don’t worry about getting to graduation because the Four Points has a luxury van that delivers you right to the gate, and picks you up. Taking the shuttle gets you in faster and has plenty of room for your recruit’s ‘Marine Corps stuff.’
What? You want more? The Four Points now offer discounted tickets to Seaworld if you have time in your schedule, plus a free ride in their shuttle. Did you say you needed a late check out or a place to store your luggage? I have you covered, you can now check out after graduation and not worry about dragging your luggage across the famous Marine Corps Parade Deck.
Days Inn Seaworld
If you are looking for another choice, I have booked over 500 rooms at the Days Inn & Suites which is just minutes from the base. The property is a wonderful choice if you are trying to save some money but still enjoy a few extras. The Days Inn offers a shuttle, free continental breakfast, and spacious suites.

Beaufort, South Carolina is a hidden gem and offers great dining, shopping, and sights. My top picks for hotels are all located minutes from both the base and historic Beaufort.
Hampton Inn Beaufort by Hilton
The Hampton Inn Beaufort is my top choice for hotels. The property offers a great environment for family members to relax and meet the parents of other recruits. When you walk into the lobby, you will immediately feel the support for military families. The rooms are spacious and the continental breakfast is delicious.
The Hampton Inn books up quickly, so reserve your room today and know you can cancel for free within 48 hours of arrival.
Days Inn Port Royal
My second choice for Parris Island is the Days Inn & Suites, located minutes from base and downtown Beaufort. The Days Inn is privately owned and new renovations have made the rooms incredibly modern and comfortable. The property offers a continental breakfast and a great pool area.
Sandboxx Travel also has a wide variety of other hotels close to MCRD Parris Island which you can check out at Sandboxx Travel.
I hope you all enjoy the uniquely special moment in your Marine’s career that is graduation. Once graduation is over, come back to Sandboxx Travel for your other travel needs. Your new Marine is eligible for all active duty discounts, which is our speciality.
